Dear Humans,

The Grounded Teacher Series sprung from injury, and a question: How do I continue to teach when I am in a low moment of life?

How do I continue to teach if my body isn’t capable of doing the practice? How do I teach if my emotions aren’t aligned with the messages I want to convey? How do I teach if I don’t have the time to class plan?

The answer is, you figure out how to release yourself of preconceptions of who you should be, and you allow yourself to who up as who you are.

At least, that’s what I hoped to impart in part one.

Today, I want to provide the next step: We learn to teach with ease when we are confident and comfortable planning classes.

The reality is that most of us teach yoga in studios where teaching asanas and sequences is the norm. So, while I’d like to say “teach as you” is the only important element, there’s also a need to acknowledge the fact that most of us are movement teachers, too.

Today, I want to give you a template that you can use to plan your classes.

It’s more than just a step by step, insert poses, type of guide. It’s a thought process. It hopefully meets you where you are. (Meaning you don’t need to know every pose or a ton of anatomy to find it useful).

The template follows my own brand of class planning, so it may work for you, and it may not, but if you like the class plans I already offer on this site, then this is essentially how I create them.

This series is available for my paid subscribers. Next week, we’re going to cover Know Your Why: A Guide to Teach from a Place of Purpose—the final piece of the puzzle.

If you are enjoying these guides, leave me a comment! I always love to hear from you.

I hope that a paid subscription feels like an investment in your continued yoga education. Head to yogahumans.substack.com and you can find the archive of over 300 mini-flows, full class plans, and so many wonderful topics on the art of teaching. ♥

This guide is designed to make class planning easy and engaging. To work with your natural flow of thoughts, creating a peak flow class in a way that isn’t linear, but intuitive. You don’t need to move through these sections in the same order I present them to you. You might choose to start in the place you are called and then work through the rest of it from there.

As I move through this model, I write up a class plan for you, so you can see an example of how a class comes together. You might even choose to teach this class plan this week and edit it as feels write!

Copy and paste this template into your notes app or a document and you’ll be ready to plan a class with ease.

Ready? Let’s begin…
