Dear humans,

We started this series with two of my favorite ways to start my yoga classes: sitting and supine.

Now, as we venture forward we are going to explore places to start your yoga classes that are either less common or more…complicated.

In this edition, we’re going to talk about starting your class in child’s pose or balasana. And while not uncommon, I actually think starting in child’s pose can be difficult (or even painful) for many students and I’m going to explain what I mean below.

It can still be done of course! But it’s one of those poses that should be greeted with intention and awareness.

So, let’s explore, my friends. Here are some ideas, reflections, and sequencing tips for starting class from child’s pose.
